Afghanistan Novel “Buzkashi Riders” by Ronaldo Dizon
Buzkashi Riders is a story about Johnny Czar and Brett McDonagh, who live on opposite ends of the world and come together through a thread of coincidence. Their chance meeting starts a chain of events that takes them to Afghanistan, the Land of the Buzkashi Horsemen. It is a story where impermanence is the main ingredient that makes us human and that the thread of coincidence connects us all to those we touch during our lifetime. It is a story where change results in adventure, and challenges are commonplace in life’s experience.

Afghanistan Black & White Exhibition Las Vegas 2021 August 2021 thru February 2022
Afghanistan Black &White 2021
Subsequent to my photographic exhibition in 2018 “A Suitcase Full of Memories” which included 3 Afghan images, I had been asked if I could produce another exhibition solely on Afghanistan. I spent most of summer 2019 re-mastering my collection of 995 images from 1972-2003 (my last visit to Afghanistan).
This new photo exhibition entitled “Afghanistan Black & White 2021” was created from my Agfa film negatives shot 45 years ago. These photographs serve as a nostalgic retrospective of a time shared with 4 heroic Peace Corps Volunteers with whom I was fortunate to serve and who provided a balanced perspective to a tragic time in Afghan history.
As we all age, I think fondly of the friendships that were forged by chance and am thankful for sharing a common life purpose in Afghanistan with Tim McCormack, Jim Mathewson, Jim Hicks and Don Condon.
These images also represent their stories.
